The company has a national direct selling organization of over 60 sales professionals and a staff of culinary experts (chefs and food scientists) adept at custom product solutions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The company is seeking a hands-on Business Application Manager to lead the management and optimization of their BP&T stack, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Business Central or Customer Engagement) and other critical business systems such as Power BI and WMS. This role requires a mix of strategic oversight and hands-on involvement to ensure systems effectively support and enhance business processes. The BP&T Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive system enhancements, provide advanced support, and optimize overall system performance.
This is not a fully remote role. This role is located in Gaithersburg and is on a hybrid schedule.
As a response to the pandemic, the company’s office employees transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring them to report in-person Monday through Wednesday, with the option to telework on Thursday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the Gaithersburg office are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.
RESPONSIBILITIES
System Management & Optimization
• Own and manage the BP&T stack, with a particular focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 (BC or CE), WMS, and related business applications. Actively engage hands-on when needed to troubleshoot issues, support users, or configure system improvements to ensure operational efficiency.
• Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure process/system effectiveness.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with internal customers and stakeholders to understand business requirements, provide hands-on support, and implement system changes or enhancements that improve workflows and meet organizational goals.
Executive Communication
• Prepare and deliver presentations to leadership, distilling complex technical information into clear, actionable insights. Adapt communication style to address both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring key messages are understood. Serve as a trusted advisor to the team, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.
Vendor Management
• Manage relationships with external IT vendors, ensuring effective delivery of services, particularly for system upgrades, patches, integrations, and customizations related to Dynamics 365 and other platforms.
Project Management
• Lead and execute system improvement, integration, and optimization projects. Take a hands-on role in project tasks, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define scope, objectives, and deliverables. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and deliver value to the business. Collaborate with AUI functional leaders to understand issues impacting productivity for optimal decision-making.
Change Management
• Serve as a change leader for technology implementations, system upgrades, and process improvements. Provide training and hands-on support to ensure the smooth adoption of new technologies across teams.
Process Improvement
• Continuously identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and system automation. Actively work in the system to optimize configurations and enhance overall functionality.
Support & Troubleshooting
• Provide advanced, hands-on support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 (BC or CE) and other core business systems. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Documentation
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, workflows, and enhancements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
• 5+ years of experience managing business applications, with a strong focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 (BC or CE) and WMS or other enterprise systems.
• Hands-on experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Dynamics 365 systems.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience managing external IT vendors and partnerships.
• Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously whole working both independently and part of a larger team.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work cross functionally with executives and stakeholders, presenting complex information in both technical and non-technical terms.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology and process improvements to organizational goals.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI or similar Platforms.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution as needed.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
• Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and a results-driven approach.
• Experience in the food distribution or supply chain industry.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, system integrations, and process automation.
