The markets offer many specialty departments including an on-site bakery and pharmacy, extensive delicatessen, and many natural and organic, prepared, and ethnic food choices. As a family-owned business operating since 1937, they are an active part of every community they serve by offering many programs that directly support local organizations.

Position Summary

The Database Developer & Business Intelligence Analyst is a critical role within our organization, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic dashboards and data visualizations using Tableau. This position is integral to supporting our operations team by providing real-time insights that drive data-driven business decisions.

Key Responsibilities of this Role

• Create intuitive and interactive dashboards and data visualizations in Tableau.
• Ensure visualizations meet the diverse needs of stakeholders.
• Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Gather data from various internal and external sources for analysis.
• Identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform business decisions.
• Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and concisely.
• Create logical and physical database designs tailored to organizational needs.
• Implement databases that are efficient, secure, and scalable.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query performance and storage management.
• Regularly update and maintain databases to ensure their integrity and reliability.
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from threats.
• Maintain an enterprise-wide awareness of integration efforts.
• Ensure all projects align with broader organizational goals.
• Work closely with IT staff, developers, and other stakeholders to align database solutions with business requirements.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for effective communication of findings.
• Provide data-driven insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Utilize and manage business intelligence tools and systems to meet organizational needs.
• Continuously improve BI processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Identify business opportunities and risks through thorough data trend analysis.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, configurations, and processes.
• Engage in project-specific tasks, contributing technical expertise and innovative solutions.
• Employ a high degree of technical aptitude with an emphasis on fast delivery and iterative work processes.

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including C# Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and utilization of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
• 5+ years of experience with databases, database objects and Transact SQL in MS SQL Server.
• 5+ years Windows Server Administration experience
• 3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting ETL solutions (such as Informatica Cloud, SSIS), integrating multiple data sources, including data analysis and solution modeling.
• 2+ years of proven experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work with large datasets and translate complex information into user-friendly visual formats.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, analytics, and reporting.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions and/or interactive graphic visualizations/dashboards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to deliver training and support to team members on the use of dashboards.
• Capability to identify, diagnose, and communicate potential impacts of changes/issues to other non-technical areas and teams.
• Provide management with timely and accurate information on the progress and issues in assigned projects.
• Experience in the retail and/or grocery industry is a plus.
• Ability to work within project management software and a 3-4 week sprint cadence is a plus.
• Preferred experience with Crystal Reports, Zapier, Twilio, AI/ML, Python, and/or other BI tools.

Additional Qualifications

• Capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Requires the ability to work in both office and retail settings, adapting to frequent changes in movement and posture.
• Must be able to tolerate refrigerated temperatures for certain tasks.
• Occasionally required to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Vision must be sufficient to see information in print and/or on electronic devices.
• Travel to multiple retail locations, trade shows, and vendor offices as needed.
• Must be able to engage in hearing, talking on the telephone, attending virtual and/or in-person meetings, typing, and managing paper/files, etc.
